Project 'Sponsor a child'

Sponsoring a child is a well-known system in Eastern Europe. It is fruitful because the help of people from different backgrounds and social level could be attracted for a long period of time.
The goal of 'Sponsor a child' is to establish a stable and bilaterally fruitful relationship between the sponsor and the sponsored child. To be a sponsor is a moral and financial obligation towards a child or a project in his/her development. Sponsorship is a constant support of a child, not a one-time, urgently needed help. Sponsorship is a long-term commitment so that the child's education can benefit; with the resulting bond between a sponsor and child growing stronger over time. This long-term commitment gives a meaning to this humane and honourable deed, providing the sponsor with the opportunity to stand by his/her sponsored child during all the critical moments of his life.

The sponsor can choose the type and duration of his sponsorship and donations can be made not only in monetary form, but also in the form of information exchange and expression of affection between sponsor and child.

This presents the child with new opportunities and he/she feels significant. The foundation is a mediator in the exchange of correspondence between sponsor and child (letters, drawings, pictures). The sponsor cannot require his donation to be used for a specific purpose. He could send presents (birthday, Christmas, etc) and pay for specific needs if he wishes, but this is above and over the amount he has committed to donate on a regular basis.

In conclusion: personal sponsorhip is an emotional and long-term initiative and the relationship between sponsor and child could last throughout childhood.
